Getting Started

I’m sure you’re excited to get started. Here is a little bit about my design process and some things you’ll need to know.

1. WHAT I’LL NEED TO GET STARTED

  • Your Logo (PDF, EPS or high res JPEG if possible)
  • Hosting Login (hosting account and/or Cpanel login)
  • Current Website Login (if currently a WordPress site)
  • Images or any new pictures you’d like to use for the new site
  • Brand style guide, colors or any special graphics being used
  • Complete my website worksheet

I’ll send an email to collect these shortly.

2. Trello Project Management

I use Trello Project management to move the process along and to avoid the endless trail of email threads. Once I set up the project you’ll receive an email from me linking to your account setup and we’ll be on our way. Don’t worry it’s a simple tool that’s easy to use.

3. Dropbox File Sharing

Dropbox is perfect for sharing large files and images. We’ll use dropbox where necessary such as when sharing files, to large to be placed in Asana. I also prefer to send information like login credentials through Dropbox as it’s safer than email. I’ll send you an email to a shared folder via email.

4. MY DESIGN PROCESS SIMPLIFIED

LAYOUT & DESIGN

Gathering content, creating structure, and layouts require a large chunk of time. It’s important as a client to understand the need for timeliness when sending deliverables(images, content, feedback) to keep on schedule. I’ll create a layout around the supplied content from you and design a site around these mockups.

DEVELOPMENT

After sign-off of layouts and design, I’ll move into the development of the website, build the required functionality making sure it not only looks great on mobile devices but is fast and secure.

*Please note that changes at this point in either design or build will incur extra charges.

REVISIONS & EDITS

After the site is built you’ll have a chance to review the site, it’s functionality, and request any spelling or grammar edits. All plugins and functionality settings such as social links and forms are set at this point and will be tested before going live.

Sign off points are along the way to assure approval of all steps.

5. GOING LIVE

Once the site is ready to go live the site will be backed up and saved locally, should it ever need to be restored. Once live, we’ll check and squash any bugs and monitor the site for two weeks after deployment to make sure things run smoothly.

If self-managed your website logins and all credentials will be sent to you via Dropbox ensuring the security of your passwords. Though your logins and passwords will be saved locally, PLEASE SAVE ALL LOGINS FOR YOUR RECORDS AS WELL. If you choose one of my Maintenance & Security plans you’ll be good to go and will be in good hands.

Upon completion, you’ll receive an email from me to my ‘What’s Next” page where I give you tips to continue the growth of your website. It’s an exclusive page for my clients to help them understand and deploy the full potential of their new website.

Finally, I’ll link you to my maintenance page where you can sign up to one of my security and maintenance plans which I highly recommend to all my clients and website owners.

Welcome aboard. It’s a pleasure to create something awesome together!
